Gigi Argyropoulou

Gigi Argyropoulou is a researcher, curator/dramaturg, theorist and practitioner working in the fields of performance and cultural practice based in Athens and London. Gigi has initiated/organized public programs, conferences, interventions, performances, festivals and cultural projects both inside and outside of institutions. She holds an MA in Time-Based Art Practices from Dartington College of Art and a PhD  from Roehampton University focused on space, politics and performance. Gigi taught and delivered lectures in various academic and artistic contexts and publishes regularly in journals, books and edited collections. She received the Dwight Conquergood Award for her work in 2017 and the Routledge Prize (PSi18) in 2012. Gigi was a founding member of Green Park, Mavili Collective, Institute for Live Arts Research and F2/Mkultra. As a member of Mavili and other collectives she co-initiated occupations, interventions and cultural critique actions during the crisis. She co-curated the first edition of the DIY Performance Biennial in Athens in 2016. Gigi was Research Fellow at Birkbeck College and co-editor (with Hypatia Vourloumis) of the special issue of Performance Research "On Institutions”. Currently, she is completing her first monograph.
